The One Thing That Makes Me Anxious as a Wedding Guest…

This year has been the year of wedding bells. No, I am NOT getting married…yet. Lol! But after only attending a handful of weddings as a kid, this year my boyfriend and I were invited to FOUR weddings, all in the summer months!

Now of course as a girl there are so many things I love about being invited to a wedding. The amazing venues, the food, the wedding dress, the music…I could go on and on. But there is one thing that I have grown to hate so much that even thinking about it gives me anxiety. No it is not the gift, not it is not the wedding shower, no it is not the ceremony…it is the reply card!

Yes you read that right. I actually get anxiety about Wedding Reply cards!

Okay, before you spit out your coffee laughing hear me out…

I come from a generation where technology rules. I have sat in front of a computer screen for as long as I can remember. As a child I sat on my Father’s lap playing with the computer, as I got older Facebook was introduced, and now my cell phone is basically a pocket computer.

Snail mail has become almost obsolete in my world. If I want to say thank you for a present, I text the person. If I want to send a Happy Birthday card, I craft a sweet picture post on Facebook. If I want to invite people to a party I create a Facebook event and maybe even do up a mail chimp e-vite.

Snail mail has become a place for junk. Credit card offers I don’t want, ads to stores I don’t go to. Bills that were paid online two weeks, and other various pieces of mail for tenants of the past.

Because of this, I RARELY even check the mail. When I do it is generally because I have noticed the mail box is overflowing and I feel genuinely bad for the mailman. I realize it is his job to stuff every piece of junk with my address on it in my box. Full or not. So when I notice it is full I clear it out.

Oh and one more thing, I live in an apartment complex. So more often than not, my mail gets placed in the WRONG mailbox. So often I don’t see the mail that comes to me!

All of these factors combined means that I am highly unlikely to see that dreaded reply card when it comes to me. But if I do see it…getting it mailed is still quite a process.

Since snail mail has become a non-thing in my household stamps are basically an antique. Those are pretty square pictures people keep in a collection to tell future generations about the olden days. Stamps however are not household necessities. So if the reply card does not include a stamp, I must steal one from someone else. This in itself can be a process since many people like me do not keep stamps anymore.

But lets say for this post’s sake that I find a stamp or the sender was kind enough to include one.

Now I have to mail the reply card back. Obstacle one, I don’t pass a mailbox or post office on my way to work AT ALL. Obstacle two, my mailman is so used to my mailbox being full he never looks for outgoing mail. Obstacle three, while I am trying to deal with one and two, the reply card gets lost.

Can you see now why this might cause me anxiety?!?!

Now I do understand that this is the proper way to do things. And I do even see the sentimental value in it. But as a guest of multiple weddings this year I am happy to have my last reply card sent and gone.

As for my future wedding? There will be no reply cards. On the invite will be my email address to respond with your dinner choice and number of attendees.

Done and done!

Tattooed weddings are beautiful too!

So I do not even remember what post it was or what it was about but awhile back a loyal blogging friend of mine sparked an idea for a blog topic. Bijoux, we may disagree but I thank you for inspiring a blog topic.

I dont remember what was said, but I wrote a note to myself to do a blog on why tattoos and white wedding dresses go together. Because darling they do! I am not yet married but as many girls do, I fantasize about my wedding day all the time!

I have heard plenty of people tell me that the location of my only tattoo might become a regret on my wedding day because “tattoos and white wedding dresses don’t go together.” But those people could not be more wrong.

To start here is my tattoo:

This tattoo means a lot to me. It says “C’est La Vie”. As a worrier it is a constant reminder that I should not stress what I can’t change. Whatever will be will be. And let me tell you. On my wedding day I will want to be reminded of that in any way possible!

Plus, black and white is one of my favorite color schemes. So for the doubters out there I got some of my favorite wedding pictures with gorgeous tattooed girls. As a note none of these photos are my own.

If even one person sees this and has a change of heart before they judge the next tattooed bride I will feel I accomplished something. We all have our own preferences but I think love is beautiful in all forms!

Happy Bubble Wrap Day!

I have been made aware that today is National Bubble Wrap day! Along with that fun fact I was also informed that the original intent for bubble wrap was to be plastic wallpaper. Well this got me thinking…what other uses of bubble wrap might we be missing out on. I decided to get out my thinking cap and come up with a list of the top five ways we could and should be using bubble wrap in our every day lives:

1) As a way to annoy that annoying co-worker in the adjacent cubicle- one pop at a time…

2) As a fabulous new dress for a night out on the town…

3) As a pillow- just in case your insomnia doesn’t keep you up all night this pillow surely will!

4) As a fabulous new carpet to match the wallpaper- one step up from the creaky floorboard in the house of the cheating spouse…

5) As an alternative to the always boring white veil on your wedding day…

What other ways should we be using bubble wrap in our every day lives that we just don’t do enough?

The “Real” Disney

As a girl who grew up loving all things Disney- I will say the one thing that always bothered me is how unrealistic it all is. To state the obvious the knight in shining armor thing seems less and less likely by the day. Then there’s this whole fairy Godmother business- I don’t know about you but mine must not like me because I have yet to meet her. Then of course there is the fact that each of these princesses are absolutely flawless no matter what type of life they come from. They have the most adorable outfits and their best friends are their pets (ok that part is realistic but mine doesn’t talk!).

My obsession with Disney ran so deep that not only did our family vacation their MULTIPLE times in my childhood but I also interned there for a few months. Working there did help make the whole thing a little more real as I learned a few of the Disney secrets but it still was all a bit surreal. This perfect fairy tale land was always my escape- always that perfect place that doesnt really exist. Needless to say when I realized that this “fairy tale” could become a bit more real I was elated.

My first introduction to real life Disney possibilities in my life was a Disney Wedding:

What girl wouldn’t want a fairy tale wedding like that? But of course to have a fairy tale wedding you would need to look like a princess right? Well then I discovered another way Disney has become a little more real:

So it looks like we can have a fairy tale wedding and look like a princess with the right photographer and clothing- oh shoot clothing- how are we going to get that? Well Disney is one step ahead of us providing us with real life Crystal Slippers- like Cinderellas:

So that settles it! No more doubts! Disney is as real as ever and needs to make my life a fairytale- like right away! Bloggers what Disney fairytale would you like to become a little more real?
