Sorry for the late post- Monday was a bit of a crazy day! But I didn’t want to leave you hanging so I am coming to you with a great holiday date night idea! Going to see Holiday Lights!
I am sure many of you are in the same boat as me. December is a crazy month. Between shopping, holiday parties and the end of the year craziness at work there just isn’t enough time in a day. This time of year can be the time of year we forget to show our loved ones how much we care- and this is the time we need to try extra hard!
I am all about Christmas! I will hum, sing, dance to any Christmas song pretty much all month. I love the Christmas movies (even the lifetime ones) and I love any excuse to get in the Christmas spirit. That is why Christmas lights are one of my favorite ways to spend a date night.
Last year we had our first date at a shrine near my house seeing their lights. It was cold but the lights were gorgeous and it was a great time just talking and getting to know each other.
This year we went to a shrine near his house and his mother and sister tagged along. We had a lot of fun. We sang christmas tunes, snapped some great pictures and warmed up with a nice cup of hot cocoa.
Although he wasn’t the biggest fan of the Christmas tunes I still had one Christmas song stuck in my head all night which I will leave you all with.
What is your favorite holiday date night idea?
Have you ever heard a song that reminds you so much of music you liked when you were younger that you just can’t stop listening to it? That is exactly what happened to me when I heard Ed Sheeran’s new song “Don’t”. For days I was searching the radio channels looking for this song because it just put me in a good mood. I could not figure out why this song made me so happy. Especially because the song isn’t exactly upbeat in the lyrics department. The song is about a guy who is cheated on by a girl. But nonetheless I would turn the volume all the way up and sing every word.
After about the 100x listening to the song I realized that it was the accent that was perking me up. But I have heard plenty of Ed Sheeran songs and this one just had something more to it. So the accent couldn’t be everything. And then I figured it out…Ed Sheeran reminded me of Craig David.
Now even people my age don’t remember Craig David. For the most part he was a one hit wonder. But I bought his CD and fell in love with every song. I think his voice mixed with the beats of his songs just hit the right chord with me. Whatever it was I was totally obsessed with his album and Ed Sheeran brought me right back to that happy place.
I thought this happy place was a great way to start the Monday and I wanted to try and get some of you bloggers there as well. Let me know what current song has brought you back in time to a favorite artist or song and what is it about them that just reminds you so much of that other artist?
I then charge you to go on Youtube and find both songs to start off your Monday. I will leave you with mine below!
Craig David- “Fill Me In”
Ed Sheeran- “Don’t”
In basically every “You know you are a 90’s kid if…” list you find the infamous dunkaroo snack. There is no explaining why these graham crackers dipped in a cake frosting substance captured our 12 year old hearts but they certainly did. If I opened my lunch to find one of these amazing snacks my whole day would be just a little brighter.
Sadly, I have been unable to find these snacks in the last few years. Doing some internet research I find that they are still sold in select stores but they have yet to cross my path. Desperate for a dunkaroo fix to bring me back to my childhood years I went to Pinterest. Low and Behold a recipe awaited me to make this fantastic snack right at home. And whats better? Its only three ingredients!

This recipe didnt give exact portions for a large batch so it was kind of a trial and error type thing. We started with the three ingredients lined up and ready to go:
All three ingredients!
Then we put them all together in a bowl and mixed them up:
Mixing Stage 1
After we stirred for a bit with a spoon we decided the consistency just wasn’t quite right. The main site gave little direction for this so we decided to try blending the ingredients:
This did the trick! The dip worked out just perfectly! Brought me right back to my days in grade school. The last thing to figure out was what to dip in it. After some debate we settled on Honey Flavored Teddy Grahams 🙂
And there you have it! A quick and easy snack the whole family will love!
So bloggers is there a snack from your childhood you would like to re-create?
