Christmas Lights Date Night!

Sorry for the late post- Monday was a bit of a crazy day! But I didn’t want to leave you hanging so I am coming to you with a great holiday date night idea! Going to see Holiday Lights!

I am sure many of you are in the same boat as me. December is a crazy month. Between shopping, holiday parties and the end of the year craziness at work there just isn’t enough time in a day. This time of year can be the time of year we forget to show our loved ones how much we care- and this is the time we need to try extra hard!

I am all about Christmas! I will hum, sing, dance to any Christmas song pretty much all month. I love the Christmas movies (even the lifetime ones) and I love any excuse to get in the Christmas spirit. That is why Christmas lights are one of my favorite ways to spend a date night.

Last year we had our first date at a shrine near my house seeing their lights. It was cold but the lights were gorgeous and it was a great time just talking and getting to know each other.

This year we went to a shrine near his house and his mother and sister tagged along. We had a lot of fun. We sang christmas tunes, snapped some great pictures and warmed up with a nice cup of hot cocoa.

Lights 1 Lights 2Warm up with cocoa!

Although he wasn’t the biggest fan of the Christmas tunes I still had one Christmas song stuck in my head all night which I will leave you all with.

What is your favorite holiday date night idea?

I want to be a Gilmore Girl!

On the radio last week they had a very interesting discussion question. They asked, “if you could be part of any fictional world, which one would it be and why.” The answers were pretty standard, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings…ect. But none of those fantasy worlds really resonated with me. I wanted a world that is more close to possible. It is easier to dream when the dream at least seems attainable.

And then it hit me. The fictional world I would want to be in is the world of Gilmore Girls in the lovely Stars Hollow. I know I have mentioned this show before but I think the only time I mentioned it was talking about a perfect date (going to the town where Stars Hollow is based off of). However, to be a resident of this town really would be a dream.

Here are just a few of the things I would love:

1) A grumpy yet gorgeous diner dude: Oh Luke. There really is no other diner owner like you. He brought the sassy comments and grumpy attitude to a new level. He was the best thing for Lori-lei and she was the best for him. Their banter was amazing to watch and I always wanted to find a relationship like that. Not necessarily the romance side but a grumpy friend I saw daily that also made my coffee. Because lets faith it without the coffee I has the dumb.

2) A sometimes too close knit community: I am not someone who is surrounded by friends. I have one or two people I am close to and that is how it has always been. But, being in a community like this would be like having a built in group of friends. This would be perfect for the loner like me. It would force me to socialize without too much effort on my part.

3) The crazy quirky town events: I love quirky things and this town was full of it. Each festival and event was adorable and fun. Remember bidding on the picnic baskets? Adorable! I would love to have an excuse to go to events like this and not get sideways glances from people who don’t understand the fun.

There are many other reasons living in Stars Hollow would be perfect but those are a few of the big ones. If you could pick a fictional world to be part of what would it be and why?

10 Random Phone Photos

So for today’s post I decided to join in on my blogging friend Dana’s Tuesday Linkup (on Friday). I know I am a bit late but I loved the idea she had and I thought it would be fun. So here it is!

The topic for the link-up is 10 random photos you find on your phone. Now when I set out to do this I planned on posting pictures that didn’t make it to ANY social media. But then I realized I am an addict! Even the worse photos have made it to some sort of social media site. So instead I have rounded up photos that never made it to blogland, so basically “new-to-you” (am I a car salesman?). Well without further adieu here is what I found lurking in my phone:

1)

bath

Bath time with the pooch! Clearly she is not a fan of water- or me after the bath. Still couldn’t help grabbing a photo of her. She is still cute when she is mad!

2)

carBefore you start worrying, NO THIS IS NOT MY CAR! However we passed it when going into a store and I thought to myself “damn that person must have really pissed someone off.” I took the picture to remind myself that things could always be worse!

3)

fire

Now this photo sucks! But if you look REALLY close on the top left corner you can see smoke coming from that building. This was taken at the mall where we went to celebrate my birthday. The parking garage (that we parked our car in) was on fire. After some research we learned that a car essentially blew up in there. Yup, these things only happen when I go out!

4)hole

So this is my shower head- notice the hole around it? Well long story short our shower was leaking into the apartment below us. This was the “fix” that occurred. Still have the hole to this day…

5) jet ski

This was taken last week. My first time riding a jet ski! Don’t mind the love handles!

6)marvel

This was one of my many Saver’s finds! A Marvel version of Monopoly! Look closely, see the penny and quarter? That is the draw back of Savers shopping- no game pieces were included. Still overall a pretty cool find for a few bucks!

7)minion

So on Tuesday nights my sister and I get together to watch Pretty Little Liars and very often we experiment with nail art. I will be the first to tell you I am not artistic. But I was pretty happy with my minion nails!

8) surprise

One random day I came home to this surprise from my boyfriend. Flowers and scratch tickets! Sometimes he can be a real sweetheart 🙂

9)winning

This is one of two $100 winning lottery tickets I have gotten since my boyfriend and I got together. Does that mean being with him is like winning the lottery? 😉

10)view

And this was the view from dinner a few weeks back! We wanted to watch the sunset so after dinner we walked down the beach that the restaurant was on and found this little spot. Loved the colors of the sky!

So there you have it! A little bit of me through the lens of my camera (on my phone). Did you learn anything new?

Zombie Date Night

Now you guys know I love sharing my date nights with you, which is why I have another one to share. However, in the spirit of honesty I will tell you this one did not turn out the way I had hoped. After planning the night the boyfriend actually hurt himself at work and was unable to partake in the “activity” part of the night. That is now on our “to-do” list. But I will share the night as it should have gone.

Recently I got my boyfriend into the Walking Dead and we finished all the episodes available on Netflix. Not quite ready to end the zombie fun I decided to make a date outta it. This is what I came up with…

When he got home he was as usual greeted with his front door indicator. This time, this is what he saw:

Then when he came in the house he was served dinner. Now dinner was a bit harder to decide on because I mean really what is there to eat during a zombie apocalypse? All I could think was twinkies but that is not exactly dinner. So I decided to go a little creepy with it:

When you are desperate anything looks appetizing right?

Then once dinner was over he was handed his zombie survival kit:

Crude I know. But it did its job. In it was scratch tickets, squirt gun and the activity portion: Groupon to have an archery lesson!

My thought was the best way to kill zombies would be to take after my Walking Dead man crush Darrel, bow and arrow the suckers!

He was super excited but sadly couldn’t do it. I am hoping we will make use of the groupon soon though!

Anyways what did you think of our zombie date night?

Can you tell me what I look like?

With the free time I have had lately I have been trying to force myself to work on the book I have told you all about. Now I have had more unsuccessful days than successful ones but I have gotten some writing done. What I have noticed is I lack detail. And most noticeably I lack detail in the appearance of my characters.

Now what is hard for me is that I see them already fully fleshed out in my head. But I have no idea where their images came from. I assume it is from the things they have said and done in the book so far. With that in mind though why have my test readers not been able to picture them with the clarity that I have?

So this got me wondering. Can we really imagine a person’s appearance solely on the things they say and the things they tell us they do? If we can get an image of that person is it even close to what they really look like? I want to find out!

So bloggers, I am looking for you to tell me what you think I look like. I know I have made mention of different physical aspects of myself on various posts and I believe I even posted a crude photo of myself awhile back. But for the most part I have not described my appearance at all. This test is to see if personality can at all illustrate one’s appearance to a perfect stranger.

Hopefully this test will help me decide how to proceed with illustrating my characters for my readers. Happy guessing!

Did you have a “Hoppy” Easter?

Anyone who has been following this blog for awhile knows that I go through phases where I just don’t blog. Sometimes it is hard to get me motivated. And right now with my job search going awful, I have just had no motivation. But I have missed you guys and I am going to make an honest effort to keep up with you! I have decided to get myself back into the swing of things I am going to start with a light, easy post. I wanted to tell you about my Easter :).

Normally I don’t share much of my personal life on my blog so I will keep the details to a minimum. Basically on Easter day the boy and I spent some time with his family and watched the Bruins game which was really nice. But I wanted to make sure that we had something a little special just for us as well. So on Monday night my boy came home from work to this sitting next to a pan of his favorite wings…

Easter HuntDid you read it? At first he didn’t either. He grabbed the scratch ticket and started talking about dinner. Lol! Once I explained there was a note he went back and said “so you are really making me do a hunt?”. Yes dear I am.

It was a short little hunt put together by one of my favorite blogs. If you wanna see the whole date and their awesome printables check them out the Dating Divas. They are pretty awesome for making a boring night pretty fun.

The night turned out so well I am already brewing up some ideas in my head for some future fun nights. I will be sure to share them as I come up with them so you can try them with your loved ones as well :).

So bloggers I have missed you all, fill me in. What did you all do for your Easter?
