Have you ever read an article and been offended starting right from the title? Huffington Post published one of those articles for me. The title read: ”
Women Should Pay More For Health Insurance Because They Have Breasts And Ovaries, Says Fox Expert”
Okay, I’m sorry what now? So the fact that men have testicles and a prostate are irrelevant I am guessing? But I was so enraged and praying that this article would redeem itself that I read on.
“”We only have the prostate. Women have the breasts, the ovaries, the uterus, they get checked in every part.”
Okay so I will ignore the fact that the “expert” seems unfamiliar with his own anatomy and will tackle his argument. So the theory here is because women get checked in more “parts” according to him this means we should pay more?
He even goes on to say, “…Guys, we don’t like to go to doctors, right?”
Okay so now he wants the male gender rewarded for being lazy and not responsible when it comes to their own personal health. Awesome argument.
What he fails to mention in his perfectly crafted argument is that men have a higher and younger mortality rate. Shouldn’t this factor in somewhere?
I did a little digging and found an article explaining 11 reasons men die sooner than women and want to know the one I found most interesting?
According to this article on MSN Healthy Living, ” Men are also more likely than women to die from injuries, suicide, respiratory cancer, cirrhosis of the liver and coronary heart disease.”
Now I am not a doctor but this would imply to me that men actually need MORE medical attention or at least more extensive medical attention. Women might get checked more but men get sick more. Seems to somewhat balance out does it not?
Of course there are a million and one more factors that must go into this but I think one thing is certain, the number of “parts” either gender has should not dictate a damn thing.
What do you bloggers think? Do you agree with the “expert” here?
How ridiculous! How can anyone take Fox ‘News’ seriously? If anything, men should be paying more because they don’t go to the doctor to maintain their health!
I agree with you on both accounts. And as much as I dislike Fox News sometimes I still gotta share my outrage on how absurd there stuff is.
As a guy I had to laugh at this article. I agree women should not pay more based on the number of “parts” that get checked. I think all people should be able to lower their rates by how dilligent they are with having their “parts” checked, as well as keeping up with their appointments. Great blog, great topic
Haha I love your use of “parts” in this comment! Made me giggle! Glad a guy understands my point of view!
haha wow, he gets the moron of the week award. Most men sit on their arse and let it grow larger, no one should pay more, but if they want someone to pay more, make those who don’t go and who sit on their lazy arse growing wider pay. Obesity is the leading cause of nearly every disease going. But still, think all should be charged the same.
You are right if anything illnesses based on laziness should be charged more. Moron of the week- could this be a new poem for you?
Okay, this is always a very hot topic for me, not only on this issue, but also on MANY issues that pertain to men and women and equality.
“but I think one thing is certain, the number of “parts” either gender has should not dictate a damn thing.”
Amen!
” Men are also more likely than women to die from injuries, suicide, respiratory cancer, cirrhosis of the liver and coronary heart disease.”
And I think that’s very true!
Another thing I think is not fair (and I know this a completely different topic), but women should get the exact pay that a man receives if they are doing the same job. And I don’t think that whether a woman is married or single should be ANY issue because if she is doing the same job as a man, well then dammit, she DESERVES the same salary!
Great post topic, as always! Have a super week!

Men and women issues are huge with me too but oddly I fall on different sides depending on the issue. You will see on an upcoming post that my girl power kind of fades. For me its not about gender but its about what is right for that particular scenario because I really feel we are all equal, equally capable and equally flawed.
The “expert” is a typical Fox News hate-monger who preaches his vile views about some fantasy world that only exists in the minds of the Murdoch minions. These are the same cynical lowlifes who made a hero out of cowboy racist Cliven Bundy. To hell with them all.
Haha I love how much Fox News hate lives in my blogging buddies! Hurrah to you all!
Of course not. But then again, look at the source. The words “Fox” and “News” automatically make any attempted point here null and void.
You are like the third person to say this! I am glad I am not the only one who feels that way!
Sounds like this “news” was created to ruffle feathers and get publicity. If that guy is an expert, then I’m a brain surgeon.
Haha yes it seems that way doesnt it? Guess thats what I get for reading a Fox “News” article.
The so called “expert” is a sexest moron. But more so on the issue no one should have to pay half as much as the do for health care. The problem is the industry is no longer about helping people its about greed.
I agree and disagree with this but you are right the guy is definitely a moron!
