I know many times I write on this blog about things that women do to attract men that irritate me. Well this is another one of those blogs. I am sorry ladies but there are some trends I just don’t understand. For this blog I am talking about the sexy baby voice.
Now don’t give me that quizzical look you all know exactly what I am talking about. The girl makes her voice sound about ten registers too high, she adds far to many w’s to her words and her grammar (if she even had a grasp on it in the first place) flies out the window.
Now the confusing part to me is how is this sexy? I get that acting helpless or ignorant every once in a while can make a man feel needed and give him an ego boost. For that reason sometimes the trash bag is just too heavy for me to take out or maybe a can of soup is just too high for me to reach. Let the man handle it. But my intelligence doesn’t suddenly drop dramatically and my voice doesn’t lose its maturity just because a man is around. And frankly I don’t get why I a man would want that.
Ladies if we want respect from men we need to demand it. Little habits like altering our voice to mirror a baby is really not demanding respect. We are literally asking a man to treat us like a baby by emulating one. Isn’t that the exact opposite message from all these women right’s movements and demand to be treated equal?
So my request? How about we stop sending mixed messages. If we want to be treated equal lets act that way. You want to be sexy? Dazzle them with your intelligence and firm grasp on the English language instead of taking dating tips from the nearest Kindergarten class.

OMG…..Thank you! Everytime I hear that sort of voice, like on the video, I want to slap the chick! Seriously, who talks like that? I cannot imagine how a man could like that! Even my husband finds it annoying.

Also, I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED that video clip! OMG…it was HILARIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!! Because I don’t watch TV, I’ve never seen even ONE episode of 30 Rock. I think I need to watch it though over at You Tube, because it looks like it was a great show!

I think that voice is creepy, and the fact that men like it even creepier. A real man wants a woman to talk like an adult, not a child. Eeewww.

I used to work from a woman from Georgia who talked that way on the phone. She was a lovely person, but she used to switch on the baby-talk when chatting with friends and family, including her mom. Her famous sign-off was “I luv ya, lil’ mama!”
But, seriously, she was a nice person. I just didn’t get that bit.
I like to think I know when I being played, so, no, I don’t like the baby voice either. And I love that “30 Rock” episode.

I have heard people like you mention as well and I just cant understand it. These people are intelligent well meaning people but the baby talk really makes me question their intelligence and thats not okay. Thanks for siding with me manly man 😉
The sexy baby voice has never really bothered me, but I guess that is because I have always assumed the person using it is doing so ‘tongue-in-cheek’! 🙂
Some are I am sure but some…some I really think find it attractive or think others do. Maybe I am wrong…I hope I am wrong!

I guess I do the same when I talk to my cats. Lol! And although the baby voice might be cute at times of kidding around, I would prefer her voice to go a couple octaves lower if she’s really wanting to turn me on. “Come on big boy” sounds better that way.
I might do some type of baby voice around my pets but I am certainly not proud of it and would not take it out in the dating world. But a couple octaves lower…hoping you mean lower than the baby voice and not her normal voice because that brings up a whole slew of other questions…
